Johnson Controls named by Newsweek as a top company in its Green Rankings
Johnson Controls was ranked No. 11 of America's 500 largest corporations by Newsweek's Green Rankings. The company placed second in its sector of consumer and automotive. Johnson Controls was described as an "industry leader in addressing climate change risks; has committed to reducing energy usage by as much as 50%. Designs products to improve the fuel efficiency of automobiles and jointly opened the world's first plant dedicated to manufacturing lithium-ion batteries."

"Newsweek's ranking of Johnson Controls recognizes the commitment we have to environmental stewardship in all three of our businesses," commented Stephen Roell, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. Newsweek worked with leading environmental researchers KLD Research & Analytics, Trucost, and CorporateRegister.com to rank companies on their environmental performance, policies and reputation. The 500 companies included in the list are the largest U.S. companies as measured by revenue, market capitalization and number of employees
