AMRI (Albany Molecular Research, Inc.), has named Richard A. Saffee as general manager of large scale manufacturing reporting to Dr. Steven Hagen, vice president of pharmaceutical development and manufacturing.
Mr. Saffee will assume responsibility for all large scale manufacturing operations in Rensselaer, New York including oversight for engineering, manufacturing and materials management.
Mr. Saffee brings over 23 years of industrial and leadership experience in the chemical manufacturing of bulk Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) in both human and animal health. Most recently, he led manufacturing activities for multiple US-based operations as site leader for Pfizer Global Manufacturing. Prior to that, he served as site leader for a Pfizer Global Human Health bulk API operation in Holland, Michigan previously owned by Parke-Davis. Prior to the Pfizer acquisition, Mr. Saffee held roles of increasing responsibility at Parke-Davis including director of chemical manufacturing and area production manager. He has extensive
Mr. Saffee earned a master's degree in business administration from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan and a bachelor's of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
