American Airlines Cargo Division (AA Cargo) is pleased to announce the appointment of Roger Samways as Managing Director of Global Accounts and Sales Strategy.
Samways will replace Linda Brown who is retiring following a distinguished career leading AA's Cargo Global Accounts group. In his new role, Roger will oversee the integration of AA Cargo's Global Accounts team with its Interline and General Sales Agent network. He brings a wealth of international experience in cargo sales to the role, and is credited with the broadening of the company's sales distribution in Northern Europe through a diversification strategy. Samways has a strong track record of building revenue in the regions he has served, including the increase of American's Cargo revenue in Northern Europe by 50% since 2001.
"At AA Cargo, our customer relationships are a very important focus," said Joe Reedy, vice president of cargo sales and marketing at AA Cargo. "We are confident that Roger will do a superb job of serving our customers and leading American's worldwide Cargo Global Accounts and Interline teams." His collaborative approach and international experience will be a great asset to our organization and our customers."
Samways joined American Airlines as a Cargo Regional Manager based in London in 1998. Previously, he represented Omni Airline Services and Emirates in the south of England.
A native of London, Samways holds a Masters degree in Business Administration, and has also received honors for his contribution to the Oxfordshire Cricket team. He is married and has two children.
