Guardian Business Solutions, Inc. has released the first two apps in its Smartphone/Tablet library of Mobilize-IT™ Enterprise apps. The Quality Inspection Capture  (QIC) and Cycle Count apps are designed for devices with an Android operating system with an iOS version due out soon.  The Mobilize-IT system incorporates the use of native applications that leverage device capabilities and a middleware framework designed to handle data synchronization and application management. Voice-directed material picking, route delivery, material movement and labor reporting are some of the apps planned for release in 2012.

The QIC app supports dimensional results designed to support the PPAP process and make collecting sample measurements quick and paperless. The UI is intuitive, simple to use and allows workers to swiftly and easily access and collect results. The measurements can be entered by the touch screen keyboard, voice recognition, or bar code scanning.

”Not only will QIC save time, it provides useful information for the Quality Department, showing what parts are having trouble, what corrective actions were taken, by whom, and where in the process these problems are occurring and more,” remarked Bridget Lazlo, Guardian President.

Part, job and sample specification information is pulled into the app from the Enterprise backend applications, and drop down lists select the correct requirements information to be displayed.

Sample data entered out of the valid specification range, displays a visual and audible out-of-spec warning. The user is then required to enter in his employee code and take corrective action before he can proceed with the next sample.

The specification requirements and data synchronization is handled by the Mobilize-IT middleware server. The Java-based virtual server can run on essentially any operating system and provides both an application server and a web server. The middleware offers a relational database and a full set of tools to communicate with backend systems, allowing for quicker and easier data integration.

Inspection data is updated on the middleware and can be accessed with a report writer, synchronized to the central enterprise servers, or mapped and exported via a csv.file.
