Growth momentum in material handling equipment has decelerated recently, according to the latest MAPI U.S. Industrial Outlook.
In the three months ending in July, material handling equipment declined 10 percent at an annual rate relative to the three months ending in April. The momentum in the manufacturing sector lost speed but was not negative as it was for material handling equipment.
Overall manufacturing industrial production grew at a two percent annual rate in the three months ending in July, compared to the previous three months ending in April.
There are signs of a turn in factory construction taking place. Manufacturing construction is forecast to increase seven percent in 2012.
